Angel-Pixie-Millie Background
Apparently, Millie was found abandoned and very poorly in a field in Romania. She was found by a woman who unfortunately couldn’t keep her as she had a lot of dogs already, so she posted her online to ask for help. Millie was lifeless, very weak, emaciated, dehydrated and covered in fleas and ticks. It was obvious she hadn’t eaten for sometime.
She also had marks around her neck which suggested she had been tied up somewhere and abused. It seems she was neglected, then dumped.
She showed a fear of men, particularly when they moved their feet as if she had been kicked during her life. She was scared of cars and traffic, possibly due to being dumped and alone.
Oana, who is a rescuer, said she would take her and care for her until she was fit and well and ready to go to a new home. She took her to her vets and they gave her medical treatment that started to help her regain her strength. Oana, could not keep her permanently so an adoptee was sought from the UK.
At that time she was known as Angel and an adoptee was found but changed her mind whilst she was in transit!
She was then fostered by a lovely couple, Debbie & Dave, who had 5 rescues themselves.
Another adoptee was found who was really looking for a Bichon, but thought Angel who is a Maltichon would do and changed her name to Pixie, but when a full Bichon became available poor Angel/Pixie was let down again.
The rest is history as they say!
The new family saw this poor bedraggled little lady whose eyes looked straight into their soul and they instantly knew she needed them as much as they needed her to help heal the huge gap left in their lives by the loss of a 12yr old Yorkie the year before!
The family has kindly supplied some pictures which you can see in the Portfolio not long after she was found, at the vets and with Oana.
Millie and V-I-Pooch Dog Grooming
Millie’s new family contacted V-I-Pooch Dog Grooming for help, as Millie was in a terrible state after being abandoned, adopted, then readopted by her new loving family to start her life with them and was for obvious reasons very nervous of new people and new surroundings.
I discussed a plan with the new owner which included a first time meet to get her to know me and the surroundings of the groom room, as well as a few treats to let her know it was a nice place!
Despite the horrible treatment Millie had experienced in her short life she was very trusting and allowed me to remove the worst of her matting in that first visit to make her feel more comfortable. I continued to work with Millie exposing her to the sounds, smells and equipment of the grooming parlour to build her confidence and trust.
At Millie’s second groom appointment, she had become more confident and had her first professional groom, which included two warm water baths with specialty dog shampoo and conditioner and allowed the remaining matting to be removed, her coat was scissored as she was not yet confident with the noise and vibration of the clippers, ears cleaned, eyes cleared and hygiene area trimmed and freed of matting.
On Millie’s third appointment, she had the same bath and blow dry and allowed me to clip her coat in to a tidy style.
Millie is really becoming a confident and outgoing lovely dog, who enjoys the company of people, including men.
Good luck Millie and all the best for a happy future with your new family.
